Compulsory Third Party Liability
(CTPL)
An insurance against liability for death or bodily injury
of third parties arising from motor vehicle accidents
resulting from fault/negligence of the assured or any
authorized driver while driving the insured vehicle
Voluntary Third Party Liability - Bodily Injury
(VTPL - BI)
Provides a coverage similar to that of the CTPL, in
excess of what is required by law
Voluntary Third Party Liability - Property
Damage (VTPL - PD)
Protects the assured against third party liability he/she
might incur for damage to property of others as a result
of the use or operation of his vehicle
Own Damage and Theft (OD/Theft)
An insurance protection against accidental loss or damage
tot he insured’s own vehicle
Extended Perils
Provides protection against perils not included in the
standard motor car policies.
Flood, Typhoon Hurricane, Volcanic Eruption & Earthquake
(FTHVEE)
Strikes, Riots and Civil Commotion (SRCC)
Unnamed Passenger Personal Accident (UPPA)
Provides indemnity for accidental death, disablement,
and medical expenses to occupants riding in, boarding
in, or alighting out of the insured vehicle

CTPL
- Bodily Injury only
Presidential Decree No. 1814 limits the compulsory
insurance to liability only for death or bodily injury
to third parties arising from motor vehicle accidents
- Premiums
Premiums shall be in accordance with the rates approved
by the Insurance Commission
- Amount of Insurance
CTPL coverage shall neither be less nor more than
the amount required by law (P50,000.00)
- Prior Notice of Cancellation
The LTC must be given a 15-day written notice prior
to cancellation of CTPL coverage, unless replaced
by a new policy
- Malus Surcharge
Upon renewal of the policy, a premium surcharge for
the CTPL cover shall be imposed on a vehicle owner
for every accident charged against the CTPL coverage
involving his vehicle during the term of the policy
covering the vehicle
VTPL
- Minimum VTPL - BI/PD cover is P200,000.00, subject
to a maximum of P300,000.00 for each unit
OD/Theft
- Inspection of Vehicles
Brokers/agents/sales staff are requested to inspect
the vehicle to ensure that it has no latent or visible
damage
- Locally Assembled Vehicles
Vehicles no longer being manufactured locally or with
spare parts no longer available locally shall not
be accepted/renewed
- Own Damage with Theft
OD and Theft must be issued together
- Valuation
All coverage for OD/Theft shall be at actual FMV
- Accessories
Non-standard accessories and add-on equipment are
not covered against loss and damage unless specifically
declared in the proposal form and the corresponding
additional premiums have been paid
- Premiums
Flat rates based on PIRA Motor Car Tariff are provided
- Discounts
Comprehensive Discount (5%) - granted to private cars
with comprehensive coverage
No Claim Bonus (NCB) - for policies with no claims
made or pending

| What to do in case of accident? |
- Report the accident to the nearest police station
for assistance.
- Take down the following:
Description of the other vehicle
Name and address of the registered owner
Name of the other driver
Witnesses and their addresses
Insurance company and policy number
- Whenever possible, never leave your vehicle unattended
to prevent further damage or theft.
- Immediately report the accident to your insurer.

| What to do in case of theft of vehicle? |
Immediately report the carnapping case
to:
- The nearest police station for assistance and preparation
of police report
- The Anti-Carnapping Task Force (ACTFORCE) for assistance
and secure and Alarm Sheet
- Your insurer

| Claim Procedures |
- Notice of Claim
- Claims must be reported at once to your insurer.
Required documents must be submitted within:
- 30 days for Metro Manila cases
- 60 days for cases outside Metro Manila
- Documentary Requirements
- For immediate processing of own damage or third
party liability claims, the following must be made
available to your insurer at once:
- Accomplished Accident Report Form
- Police Report, if available
- Vehicle’s Certificate of Registration
and current
- Official Receipt (1 copy each)
- Driver’s License with Official Receipt
(1 copy each)
- Stencil of the vehicle’s motor/chassis
numbers
- Colored photographs of the damaged vehicle
- Repair estimates from:
any one of FGU’s motor car specialists/drive-in
centers; or
- at least two repair shops accredited by
FGU
- Original medical receipts (for third party claims
involving BI)
- Death certificate (for third party claims involving
death)
